Zoey Zara and Missy Jagodzinski
The Plan
This project took a lot of planning and re-planning. It’s hard to choose how you’re going to embarrass yourself in public. In order to prepare for our adventure as “Goth/Punk chicks, we first had to go shopping. Zoey’s mother took her shopping for the supplies. We purchased our outfits from the Party Tree. They were made up of spider web tights, red and black glovettes, and spider veils. Everything was red and black. The next day we got ready at Zoey’s house before heading out. It took us about an hour because we had to Google “Goth hair styles.” We looked ridiculous and felt the same. We then took a deep breath, tried not to laugh at ourselves, and headed out.
The Reaction
Anyone that knows Melissa and I knows that we are quite trendy people. We usually try to look our best in public and are proud of the classy reputation we have earned from this. So we decided to change things up a bit. We became Goth/punk chicks. It was the scariest and strangest experience either one of us has had. We started off at Steak and Shake. Before we entered the resturaunt we had people staring at us. When we walked in it was even worse. It was like a scene out of a movie when the pretty girl walks into the cafeteria and everyone turns and stares. Except we weren’t the pretty girl. One of the waitresses call us “them” as in, “You can go ahead and help THEM.” Our waitress was very kind because her outer appearance is different too. She was the only person that looked at us like we normal. In fact, she didn’t even charge me for my drink because she wanted to cut us some slack. One waitress stared at us WAY too long. It was highly offensive. This one man even pointed and laughed. Our next stop was Wal-mart. It wasn’t nearly as bad of an experience. There were a few people that stared us down and we walked the isles, but it wasn’t as uncomfortable as sitting at steak and shake. The greeter was at least nice. Next up we decided we’d try out someplace in good old Riverton. So we went to the Dollar General. There wasn’t much of a crowd, so we didn’t get much of a reaction. Anyone that we knew just laughed at us like we were crazy. Within seconds of starting this adventure we both decided that we shouldn’t be so quick to judge. That was what caused most of the stares. People were unfairly judging us the second they laid their eyes on us. And the sad thing is they didn’t even know us to judge.
The Analysis
We were highly offended by how we were treated as we went around town dressed as Goth/Punks. It was amazing how outwardly mean people can be. And the sad thing is, they probably didn’t even realize they were staring or being mean (with the exception of a few). That’s because it is such a common thing to do, stare at someone who is different. The most important thing we learned from this experience is that you should never judge a person by the way they look. Just because they are strange on the outside doesn’t mean that they’re strange on the inside. We were perfectly normal, nice, young girls who because of the way we looked, were judged and thought of poorly.

other shoes revised
K guys change of plans! We already did our project, but we changed it completely. Instead of being "drag queens," we decided to be Goth/punk chicks. We wore spider web tights, black and red glovettes, dark eye make up and lipstick, and our hair all crazy and teased and stuff. We had dark clothes and at times, we even wore "spider vails." We hypothesized that people would be way too quick to judge us. We were right.

other shoes
Let me just start by saying... i'm absolutely PETRIFIED of this project. so this is the game plan right now (it is subject to change at anytime between now and tomorrow). Missy is my partner and we were thinking we could be drag queens. now i know a drag queen is a boy dressed as a girl so we were just thinking we could dress like one, meaning dress outragously. we would have crazy hair and makeup and talk in funny accents. i feel like since we're normally pretty trendy people when i comes to fashion, we'd definitely get some double takes walking around like fools! i think it'd be a lot of fun to do and that potentially, other people could have fun with it too. we were going to do this around town monday and one other day over the weekend. i'm going to assume that we will definitely get some strange, if not rude looks and probably be snickered at since our goal is to be completely obnoxious. i would hope that people would learn from this that its okay to be different. i doubt they will but it would be nice. i think it will give me a new outlook on how people feel when maybe i accidentally look at them funny, and i feel like this experience will make me a better person! i'm kind of excited!
