Connections to Salinger

This article explains a lot about Holden's character and how he might have been developed. To me, it sounds like Salinger simply wrote about his own childhood through the eyes of a different character. He flunked out of many schools, Holden flunked out of many schools. He was dissatisfued with the world, Holden seemed to be dissatisfied with the worls. He was tired of himself, and I feel Holden eventually gets tired of himself. So I made a lot of connections to my interpretation of Holden. There's not much to connect with Salinger about. He was a seemingly unhappy man who wanted to be shut out from the world. And I myself can't relate to that at all. I can get wanting to have some private time to yourself, but an entire life of it? But because of his unhappiness, I can connect to him as a writer. I now understand why Holdens character is the way he is. As I stated earlier I strongly believe that Salinger was writing as himself through the eyes of someone else. The book clearly came from an unhappy place. Despite all the drab and for lack of a better word unhappiness, it is a spectacular book and makes for a VERY interesting read.
