My Connection to Holden

In this story, Holden is reminded of an old friend, Jane, when his roommate goes on a date with her. He and Jane had at one point in life been great friends, they lived down the street from eachother! So overall he was remembering and wanting to reconnect with Jane. I can connect to this. I have made many friends throughout my life. Some who stuck, and some who haven't. I made a lot of these friends doing shows. One particular friend i made was named Charlie. We were in the show Oliver! together. He was Oliver and I was in the childrens chorus. A bunch of the kids were a few years older and there were only a few our age (Alex Behrens was one of them!) Anyway, I had given him my email adress at the end of the show (that was the cool thing to do back then) and expected to keep in touch, but that didn't exactly happen. I was a bit sad, but life goes on! Some 5 or 6 years later, I was in a show with Charlies brother, Sam! Through Sam, I reconnected with Charlie!! I added him on myspace, not knowing if he'd remember me, and to my suprise he did! We chatted frequently and rekindled the friendship! However, for whatever reason, I would get nervous everytime I saw him, and would never go say hi. He'd always say "I would have loved to have seen you," and then I'd feel bad (just like holden didn't say hi to jane). Charlie and I dont chat as often now, but still talk on occassion!!! So I can connect to Holden in the sense of reconnecting with an old friend!

  1. Thats great that you reconnected with Charlie and that you still talk. I have a friend in texas who was my best friend all through school. Well I thought I would keep in touch a lot more than what I have. I talk to him every know and then, just like you and charlie. But I didnt even think about holden reconnecting with jane as a key concept. GOOD JOB!
